“Operation Blessing the Bahamas”

Delray Beach, FL: September 3, 2019 – On Sunday September 1st, 2019, hurricane Dorian has stalled the Northwestern part of the Bahamas devastating the Abaco Island, Marsh Harbor, Grand Bahama, and more. The catastrophic effects of the category 5 hurricane have left hundreds of thousands impacted lives homeless and hopeless. This unprecedented situation in the history of the Bahamas has moved us all and demands immediate action.

The Florida Haitian Baptist Fellowship whose mission is “to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ while strengthening and connecting the works and ministries of Haitian Baptist churches in Florida to those abroad” is deeply saddened and profoundly touched by the level of devastation that the Bahamian people have to face and go through. The Fellowship understands that this time requires immediate and proportional response from all the Haitian Baptist churches towards our neighbors in the Bahamas.

To plan its efforts and channel its response effectively and in an organized manner, the following steps are being considered for immediate action:

  • Pray for compassion, resilience, and speedy rescue and recovery for the Bahamian people
  • Deploy Operation “Bless the Bahamas” which shall serve as a mobilization tool to enlist the support and sensitivity of Florida Haitian Baptists toward the Bahamian people
  • Join forces with all ministry partners including local fellowships, regional associations, and the Florida Baptist Convention to better maximize the impact of Operation ‘Bless the Bahamas’.
