Formerly known as the Haitian State Fellowship and Fellowship of Haitian Baptist Churches of Florida, the Florida Haitian Baptist Fellowship has been in existence for the past two decades. Founded in 1994 to address the lack of unity and missional oriental of Haitian Churches within the Southern Baptist life, the Fellowship has collaborated with hundreds of Haitian churches both in Florida and in Haiti. The drive is to always go beyond what has been already accomplished. In early 2016, the thirst for momentum has fueled the creation of a Special Commission whose specific mission was quite simple: learn and expose hindrances, and propose sustainable solutions to enhance the Fellowship’s works throughout all of its areas of operations.
Subsequent to the report of the Special Commission, a provisional board made of 12 members was instituted in November 2017 with the mandate to restructure the Fellowship and transform it into a ministry and missionary machine to advance God’s agenda among Haitian Baptists in Florida and beyond. That mandate is being addressed with the most pressing urgency and sense of responsibility in order to make the Fellowship fully operational and a trusted and viable partner Haitian Baptist churches in Florida and abroad can have.
